Interesting controversy surrounding her weight......! Having worked with dozens of different models during the course of my career (as well as studying anatomy) I personally think your model is radiant and looks very healthy. Even someone slightly overweight would have slightly distended ribs in that pose. The fullness of her lips reminds me of so many of the very inspired observations by Rodin in his book The Cathedral, as he studies different portraits and poses of people in church, on the street, etc. Also the beautiful, soft roundness of her belly going down to her hip and the soft curve under the bathing suit bottom... hardly signs of being underfed! The pose, setting and lighting are lovely- love how she looks almost in a state of abandon to the light itself. I hope we see more of the work you two do together. Thank you!
It looks great... may I just add that her ribs are probably only showing because of the pose she is standing in... I'm sure any normal person's ribs would be showing. She is a pretty person, honestly. Normally, I don't like people's ribs showing, but lets be logical. Do you see her thys? They don't look like skin and bone. They look normal sized. She's a normal sized girl. I'm honestly jealous of her body type because it is so perfect. Her ribs probably don't show when she is standing normal, but she is stretching herself out... what do you expect?
Thank you for noticing that! Ahh god! I was gonna point out that she was totally arching her back and chest, thus her ribs show, like any normal person! Thank you for being intelligent! I really appreciate that!
At least she isn't obese with rolls of fat hanging off of her or sporting a "muffin top".
Good for her and screw the haters.
She looks healthy and could be a nice example of what the youth of today could aspire to be like (health and fitness-wise) if they peeled their bottoms away from the television / computer / videogame systems / other sedentary pursuits and went outside and became physically active.
"Haters", as you say, are simply people with different opinions/preferences. I will say my opinion again (I have posted a comment before): she IS beautiful, but when my eyes lay on her upper body, it is not something I find very attractive. So am I a hater? I do disagree with comments such as "ew gosh this is ugly anorexic" etc., they are simply uncalled for.
"At least she isn't obese with rolls of fat hanging off of her or sporting a "muffin top"." You make it sound like it's the worst thing in the world to have a different body than the one we are looking at here and that we should all look like this.
I do think that the world populace (the Western world in particular) tends to be out of shape, obese, overweight, sedentary, couch-potato loving, burgers-fries-and-Supersizeme servings galore, etc. etc. etc. to the point that we in the U.S.A. are at an all-time high for individuals being overweight.
Face it ... if you shovel food into your face and do nothing to burn off the calories that you ingested, voila! ... you get fat. And that seems to be the norm over the last decade and a half. Take a gander at school kids ... grammar school aged kids. I am SHOCKED to see so many butterball sized kids that are way, way, way overweight. Why? Computer games, the Internet, watching television, and so on. No riding bikes or getting outside to break a sweat. Just sit on your ass and snarf down more comfort food that is available.
Also, just to let you know, there is no such thing as being "BIG BONED". Nada. "Big Boned" is a roundabout / polite term for classifying someone as FAT. So, no go on the Big Boned misnomer. Sorry folks. If you were "Big Boned", then I think you'd have the skeletal framework akin to that of a Brontosaurus or an elephant.
Lesson here is:
01. Take care of your body. You can't go and pick a new one up at Wal-Mart.
02. Think "caloric intake versus caloric expenditure":
- If your caloric intake is MORE than what your caloric expenditure is, then you are going to become FAT.
- If your caloric intake is LESS than what your caloric expenditure is, then you are going to LOSE weight.
- If your caloric intake is EQUAL to that of your caloric expenditure, then you are going to MAINTAIN your weight.
03. Big Boned is a misnomer and a cop-out.
04. The model in this image is at a healthy weight ... to nitpick that you can see a slight protrusion of her ribcage tells me more about YOUR mindset and YOUR hangups than whatever issue or issues you want to project onto the model.
05. Lastly, I will refrain from any other comments here that pertain to this as I think that this thread has sullied the overall feel / commentary / etc. for this image and the photographer who took this picture. (All apologies to matmoon for this tiny flame war.)
So how am I supposed to "rant" about this image posted / hosted on the Internet of all things?
Do I send a message via smoke signals?
By a message attached to a carrier pigeon?
By Certified Mail?
UHF radio transmissions?
On parchment rolled up and placed into a watertight bottle and then tossed into the ocean to ride the currents until it winds up in the proper hands?
Ah ... but alas 4EverGirl ... methinks that you are one in the category of the obese / muffintop lassies who envy Melanie. Hence your resentment of not looking like her, and for that matter, finding umbrage with those out here in the real world who do admire / desire / uphold individuals who take care of their bodies.
Lawl. This makes little sense. I do not comprehend what you're trying to tell me. I just saw a photo of a very anorexic girl on my page. It's not healthy looking, Meat on your bones I think should be sexy and cute. Rather then half dead looking and considered stunning. I am bigger bones, I am perfectly happy with my body type, skinny or fat. Going to the doctors and them telling me i'm perfectly healthy with a good heart and my blood pressure is fine. Doesn't matter with how you look on the outside, as long as on the inside your breathing and you're getting oxygen it shouldn't matter your body type.
I am not in the 'obese/muffintop lassies.' That's just plan rude. I have no desire to look like her, I don't admire her. Because I am beautiful and proud of what I look like. I know one thing is for sure she is the one thing I DON'T WANT TO LOOK LIKE. Because she is to skinny and probably is getting half the blood and oxygen inside her body that she needs. Enough said.
Hahaha "Very anorexic girl" stop embarassing yourself please its painful to read. "probably is getting half the blood and oxygen inside her body that she needs." That might be the most ridiculous thing that I have ever read. As for the ribs that is how youre supposed to look when bridging your lower back. The girl looks amazing as all hell. Your envy is too damn obvious.
I had no envious. If you read my first comment to that guy I was just laughing at how he's making fun of so many people and saying we all have to look very thin, and should get out more, yet there he was on a computer device saying we should get out more when he's probably also cooped up in his own house. Until after he started to call me obese and fat, when clearly I am not. I am very healthy, which are the reasons why I I think someone very skinny they tend to have less flood flowing to their body's because of having no meat on their bones. Maybe you should google it sometime.
